Dr. Annie Simones, MD, FAAP

Dr. Simones is a board-certified pediatrician and neonatologist with more than ten years of experience caring for infants and families with complex medical needs.

In addition to her training in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Simones has pursued additional training in Pediatric Functional Psychiatry, expanding her expertise in the interconnected roles of neurodevelopment, mental health, nutrition, sleep, physiology, and environment in a child's overall well-being.

Why I created CORA:

“My understanding of healthcare comes from several perspectives: as a physician, a patient, a neurodivergent woman, and a parent raising neurodivergent children.

Those experiences have taught me that what we see during a medical appointment is only a small part of a child's story. Sensory differences, communication styles, executive functioning, anxiety, fatigue, feeding, sleep, family life, and the enormous effort some children expend simply navigating their day can be difficult to capture in a traditional medical visit.

I created CORA to provide medicine that is thoughtful and evidence-based, while also making room for individual differences, lived experience, and the complexity of being human.”

At CORA Pediatric & Adolescent Health, Dr. Simones partners with children and their families to understand the many factors that contribute to a child's symptoms and well-being. She combines her Pediatric training with a functional whole-child perspective to understand the child's broader story, identify potential medical and modifiable contributors to their concerns, and develop an individualized plan grounded in evidence-based medicine.
